This document pertains to HP and Compaq PCs with Windows 7.

The procedure for uninstalling software in Windows 7 is explained in this document. Follow the steps provided to remove unwanted software from your Windows 7 computer.

Removing software with the Uninstall a program feature in Windows vii

To remove programs and software components in Windows 7 from your computer hard disk drive, follow these steps:

1. Click Start , and then click Control Panel.

2. Under Programs, click Uninstall a program.

   The Uninstall or change a programme window opens.

3. Select the programme y'all want to remove.

4. Click Uninstall or Uninstall/Change at the top of the program listing.

5. Read and respond to whatsoever messages that might open while the software is being removed from your computer.

If the programme you lot want to uninstall is not listed in the Uninstall a Program window, use the Turning a Windows feature on or off option on the left side of the Programs window.

1. Click Get-go , then click Command Panel. Click Programs, and then click Plow Windows features on or off.

   If you lot are prompted for an Ambassador password or confirmation, blazon the password or provide confirmation.

2. To plow a Windows feature on, select the checkbox side by side to it, and then click OK.

   To turn a Windows feature off, remove the choice, and click OK.

Use the following steps only if you cannot observe the software listed in the Uninstall a Program window or in the Windows Features window.

The following procedure involves editing the Windows registry. Incorrectly editing the registry could crusade Windows to non start. Create a backup of the registry earlier advisedly following the steps.

1. Click Get-go , and then enter regedit into the Search field. Click regedit.

2. If you are prompted for an Administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

4. Once the registry has been backed up, click the plus sign next to the following key names in the left pane of the Registry Editor:

   • HKEY LOCAL Motorcar
   • SOFTWARE
   • MICROSOFT
   • WINDOWS
   • Current VERSION
   • UNINSTALL

5. Nether Uninstall, select the key name of the software that you desire to uninstall.

6. With the software name selected, double-click UninstallString in the right pane.

7. Select the entire text in the Value data field.

8. Right-click the highlighted text and click Re-create.

9. Click Abolish, and so shut the Registry Editor window.

10. Click Start .

11. In the Search field, right-click and select Paste.

    The UninstallString value data you copied previously is pasted into the field.

12. Printing the Enter key.

13. Follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.
